Abhishekam is the ritual bathing of the yantra — panchamrita (milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar) poured in the prescribed order, then shuddhodaka, pure water, and finally the yantra dried, adorned and worshipped. On a Sri Chakra the bathing is accompanied by the Vidya mantra and the relevant suktas rather than performed in silence. Archana follows the bath, because the tradition treats the sequence as one rite: the yantra is first cleansed and refreshed, and only then are the names and offerings made to it. The packages below differ in how much of that full sequence is performed and over how long.
The pairing of abhishekam with archana reflects the ordinary order of upachara in Vedic and Agamic worship — snana precedes alankara and archana. On the Sri Chakra it carries the additional sense of renewing the yantra's worship before the names are offered at it, which is why an abhishekam is customary before any extended Shri Vidya observance.
