Rudrabhishek is a sacred Vedic worship of Lord Shiva in the form of Shiva Linga, in which Abhishek is performed with consecrated substances while sacred mantras and prayers are recited. The worship is traditionally associated with the invocation of Rudra, a revered form of Shiva, and is performed with devotion, discipline, and prescribed ritual procedures. During Rudrabhishek, the Shiva Linga is ceremonially bathed with water and, according to the selected Puja tradition, offerings such as milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar, Bilva leaves, flowers, and other appropriate articles may be used. The Rudra mantras, Shri Rudram, Chamakam, Shiva mantras, or other prescribed recitations may accompany the Abhishek depending on the form of the seva.
